The Pont Morand, located in Lyon’s 1\u1d49\u02b3 arrondissement, is an iconic structure spanning the Rh\u00f4ne, linking the Terreaux and Brotteaux districts. Inaugurated on July 1\u1d49\u02b3, 1775, it was originally a wooden bridge comprising 16 arches and measuring 279 meters in length.<\/p>\n

Designed by architect Jean-Antoine Morand, it played a crucial role in the urban development of the left bank of the Rh\u00f4ne.<\/p>\n

Over the centuries, the bridge has undergone several reconstructions and renovations, notably to replace the wooden structure with more durable materials. The famous lion heads that adorned the bridge were emblematic decorative elements, symbolizing the city of Lyon. These sculptures were removed during the modernization work.<\/p>\n

One of these lion heads has found a new home on the front of Caf\u00e9 des F\u00e9d\u00e9rations, an authentic Lyonnais bouchon founded in 1872 and located at 8-9-10 rue Major Martin, in the 1\u1d49\u02b3 arrondissement.<\/p>\n

This presence testifies to the caf\u00e9’s attachment to Lyon’s history and heritage, offering visitors a tangible link with the city’s past.<\/p>\n
